A New Blanket

I made a blanket for my f18 month old granddaughter tonight. She ended up spending the night unexpectedly and Mommy didn't bring her blankie so in desperation I found a piece of silky lavender fabric left from not making bridesmaid's dresses for her mommy, and a piece of red/pink/white polar fleece with hearts to back it with. Not the most pleasing combination but it had to do. I cut 25" squares from the two fabrics, laid them wrong sides together and basted around the outer edges. Then I cut my own binding from the lavender silk, pressed it and hurried and sewed it around the outside edges. It was not elegant and I didn't end up turning the last two sides under but it worked. She only cried a couple of minutes and now she is asleep.

Mapquest is right on

This morning I was going to go meet my mom at a truckstop outside of Butte. She was coming from the other direction and had a shorter distance to go. I decided to mapquest the journey from my house to the truckstop. Mapquest said it was 117 miles and would take 1 hour and 41 minutes. I decided to time myself because that didn't seem right. I had to go slow the first mile until I got to the highway and I had to go over three mountains which slowed me down some. So I sped up coming down the last mountain and managed to get to the exit in exactly 1 hour 41 minutes after I left home. That was pretty impressive.
